We are living through a revolution in artificial intelligence; this new technology is taking over the world, or at least the e-commerce sector. In my articles, I have described 5 ideas to use ChatGPT for your e-commerce store and Creating product descriptions with Chat GPT and other generative AI models. Testing Chat GPT, Hypotenuse, Jasper, Bing Chat. And now I want to test the AI product photo in an e-commerce store.
Photos of products are an essential part of every online shop. They show potential buyers exactly what they’ll get if they consider a purchase, which can make the difference between a sale and a lost opportunity. If you have a small store or are a dropshipper with a lot of products, you may find it hard to take high-quality pictures of your goods. You could take your own pictures or hire a studio, but this can be expensive and take a lot of time. But you can speed up the process and save time and money by using an AI product image generator.
Using AI technology, you can make high-quality photos of your products that show them in the best possible light. AI can improve product images by changing the brightness, contrast, and other aspects to make them more appealing to potential buyers. This can help you make more sales and save you the trouble of taking a bunch of photos until you get the right one.
Using AI product photos can be a great way to market your business, no matter how big or small it is. By giving potential customers high-quality pictures of your products, you can help them see the value of what you have to offer. This can lead to more sales. You can add this technology to your online store by buying AI software or by working with a third-party company that specializes in AI product photos. Using an AI product image generator is a smart way to improve your online shop and bring in more customers, no matter which option you choose.
Product photos as a tool of selling
If you were to ask yourself what might make you purchase anything from any retailer, what would you say? Your friends’ recommendations or a Facebook commercial? Probably not. Because a purchase choice is often made on the fly when viewing a product page, the product page is the most important page on your website. As a seller, it’s your job to describe your goods as accurately as you can.
You have two very important “tools” that you can use. The first is a text description of the product, in which you can list all of its features and benefits for the buyer. The second is visual elements, especially pictures of products. When there are no photos, the offer isn’t complete, and customers aren’t likely to choose it.
Visual merchandising is an important part of any e-commerce business. Since your customers can’t see or touch your products in person, it’s important that your product pictures are good enough to make them want to buy them. Also, putting high-quality pictures of your products on your website can make people more interested and give your brand more credibility and trust.
In the process of doing research for this article, I came across some fascinating numbers that I just want to share with you. Shotfarm, a product content sharing platform, conducted a survey showing that 92.6% of online buyers claimed that images are the most influential aspect in determining whether or not to make a purchase. Images of products are only one kind of visual information that falls under this category.
According to research conducted by Red Points, an online brand protection tool, 77% of customers said they are less inclined to purchase from a website with poor product photos.
Eighty-eight percent of respondents to a poll by Shutterfly, a digital picture printing business, agreed or strongly agreed that high-quality product photographs are “very” or “very” significant when making an online purchase.
Salsify found that 87 percent of consumers rated product material (including photographs) as very essential or very significant when making a purchase decision.
These research and surveys give more current proof that consumers still place a premium on high-quality product photos when making purchases online. Results also imply that other forms of visual material, such as videos, may have an impact on consumers’ final purchases.
Good and bad examples of product photos
Let’s look at what kinds of product photos can make or break a sale. I’d like to draw your attention to my top shops, each of which has amazing product images. The first one is https://www.patagonia.com/, which has a perfect product description.

The second one is https://www.desigual.com/. Both stores have additional video shots.

Here’s an example of what you should do in your store if you want the photos of your products to break the sale.

I know that the first two stores have a huge budget for photography. The last is SMB, which has a tiny budget. So, I’m writing this article to try to show you that new technology gives us the chance to make our store the best it can be.
Tips on how to make cool product images
Let’s see the tips on how to make a great product photo that I found on the net.
- Set up a clean background. Use a background with a solid color or texture that doesn’t clash with your product. You can use a plain wall, a piece of paper, or even a piece of fabric.
- Light is important. Good lighting can change everything. To make your product look its best, use natural light or buy some lighting tools.
- Show different points of view: Take pictures of your product from different angles so that customers can get a better idea of what they’re buying.
- Use props sparingly, and if you do, make sure they add to the product and don’t take away from it.
- Show how the product is used. If your product is meant to be used in a certain way, show it in action. For example, if you’re selling a coffee mug, take a picture of someone holding it and sipping from it.
- Change your pictures: Use apps to fix your photos so they look their best. Change the photo’s brightness, contrast, and saturation, and crop it so that the product is the main focus.
- Think about the situation: Think about where and how your product will be shown or used. Adapt your photos to the platform (like social media, your website, etc.) and the people you want to reach.
- Be consistent: Make sure that all of the photos of your products look and feel the same. This will help your brand stand out and give all of your marketing materials a uniform look.
- Try different styles: Don’t be afraid to try different ways of taking pictures of your products to see what works best for your brand. You can find the best look for your products by experimenting with lighting, props, and angles.
Even to a regular store owner with a smartphone, it doesn’t look that hard. But if you have a camera and some creativity, even if you’ve never done this before, you could make very good photos.
What about cutting-edge technology like AI, though? Can we use them to make awesome content on a shoestring? Ok, let’s find out.
Benefits of an AI product image generator
I want to tell you right away that you should not expect the AI to generate a photo of your goods for you and keep you free. No, while I think it may be feasible in the future, you will still need to follow the advice given above. And made good photos for your store, but AI can transform this good photo into a great tool for selling. In other words, it optimizes the process of making product photographs for you.
You would ask, “Okay, and what are the benefits of using the AI product photo?
Here are some more detailed approaches to using AI to make product images for your e-commerce store:
- Time and money are saved since it is not necessary to take as many images of the goods. Businesses may save time and money by utilizing AI to create product shots since the AI can automatically improve the photos without any human intervention.
- Artificial intelligence may assist in maintaining uniformity in product photography, leading to a more polished and unified presentation of the goods. Since it may be difficult to manually maintain uniformity across all product images, this is particularly helpful for organizations with a large product inventory.
- Visually attractive and effective product photography is now within reach, thanks to advancements in artificial intelligence. AI may enhance the photos’ appeal by modifying their brightness, contrast, and color.
- High-quality photographs of products have been shown to improve sales by picking up the interest of prospective buyers. Businesses may improve their chances of completing a sale by utilizing AI to create product photographs that are more enticing to customers.
- Businesses with extensive product catalogs may quickly ramp up the number of AI-generated product images they use. This allows firms to instantly create product photographs for any number of goods.
- Customization AI may help tailor product images to each customer’s tastes, making them more engaging and effective. By displaying products in ways that appeal to the individual interests of each client, companies may boost both engagement and revenue.
Overall, SMBs may save time and money, see improvements in quality and consistency, and see an uptick in sales with the help of AI product photos. From my own experience, editing photos for my children’s clothing store took a lot of time and was a very mechanical and boring job for me. And now I can’t wait to try out an AI assistant that helps everyone make amazing product photos.
AI product image generators to test
Ok, let’s try several of these magic helpers, which I’ve just googled. Before testing, I found simple instructions on how to do that:
- Choose a photoshoot style. Choose from over a dozen different designs to get the right appearance for your product images.
- Add a picture of your product.
- Create product images. AI will provide several possibilities for you to choose from.
- Save and share.
And there’s a Tik Tok meme that I keep hearing in my head:
“Oh, look at this!
It’s perfect! Perfect! “
But really, is this perfect?
Pixelcut’s AI product picture maker
I decided to start with Pixelcut. Pixelcut’s AI product image creator advertises giving you the freedom to experiment with many aesthetic options while taking pictures of your products. There are perennial favorites like Bloom and Superpop and trendy newcomers like Holiday and Summer. Make stunning branded AI-created product images!

Come on, then! I selected many product photos for evaluation, including ones with the woman, the jacket, headphones/speakers, and lip gloss. A totally arbitrary selection of the world’s best-selling goods.

I was initially disappointed after trying the Pixelcut since my expectations were fairly high. I assumed that with its assistance, I would be able to take some pretty stunning photos. As a result, I simply edited the shot and added a backdrop.

Othervice Pixelcut is a good assistant for editing your product photo, cutting, creating backgrounds, and adding stickers (not in the free plan). The best shots, in my opinion, are below.

Well, this task took me very little time; normally, following the photo session, I spent a week processing fresh images and creating them so that they could be shown on my shop’s table. Nevertheless, using Pixelcut, I will be able to do the regular task in two days.
I’ll say more. These days, when I work with photos, I use Photoshop, which has a lot of useful features and costs a monthly fee. I only use a limited number of functions when I’m editing photos. AI lets me do all the same things quickly and for free. Below, I tried a template with different backgrounds for the solo jacket.

It looks nice, isn’t it?

I tried several available free templates for creating different looks.

This Holographic template presents our testing product, headphones/speakers. This is, of course, not for the site itself but for use in Instagram advertising and sales.

And in the last one, I used lipsticks. I think it is a great idea to use such backgrounds for creating banners or slides for your store. And if you sell on Instagram or Tik Tok, this template will represent your particular flair.

Everything depends on your imagination and creativity. Let me know what you think of my artistic banners using lipsticks.

I was able to do all of these tasks for free just by using a browser. And I fully endorse this product for AI photography. You may purchase a Premium package to expand your AI options. Professional plan for $9.99 per month or $59.99 per year with limitless background removal and Magic Write (AI produces extra product descriptions), 100 premium templates, fonts, backgrounds, and overlays
Using CreatorKit AI product image generators
The next one, CreatorKits, has tools not only for creating photos but also for editing videos. From my point of view, it’s pretty helpful for making content for social media, which is also very important. Ok, let’s start with our model. Honestly, this AI generator is tailored to the appropriate product categories: coffee/tea, consumer electronics, drinks, everyday carry, food, drinks, footwear, shoes, furniture, makeup, supplements, toys, pets, and skincare. You can use the prompt to specify what you wish to accomplish. You need transparent PNGs for the best results. Otherwise, it will automatically remove the background on the next step.

Afterwards, AI will show you the results.

I gave it numerous goes, and each time the outcome was a little bit unusual. Sadly, there is no control over CreatingKit, and the results cannot be repeated. You have to regenerate again and again until you get an image you like. I recognized after several regenerations that I couldn’t reasonably utilize such photography in my store. Below are the worst images, in my opinion, that were generated.

When I asked to make only white backgrounds, I got these:

But if you choose the style that is already there, the picture looks fine, with a few exceptions.

What can I say? As an AI, it’s great at cutting photos, but you probably spend a lot of time regenerating results you’d like to use in your shop.
Ok, let’s see how CreatorKit handles our jacket. In this case, even cutting the jacket caused a problem, but when the photo was made, AI painted the inside of the jacket to make it look right.

I stopped messing around with the prompts and just used the styles that were already there. Not so bad, what do you think?

Overall, the jacket wasn’t too bad. In this AI product image generator, photos of objects look better than photos of models.
Our next testing products are headphones/speakers. There was a problem with the cut here.

If AI could cut and recognize products well, I think a really cool image would be used as an ad in the most expensive magazines. If you don’t look at the obvious flaws, just look at the stunning photos.

In my opinion, the best-generated AI product photos I‘ve got are of lipsticks. There wasn’t any problem with cutting; it just went like clockwork.

In my opinion, CreatKit is good for several product categories like shoes, cosmetics, jewelry, and so on. You may create incredible photoshoots or product images for these categories. It was enjoyable to try this AI generator, however it needs to be improved.
CreatorKit can develop AI product photos, video projects, and brand kits for you. With the help of it, you can make ads, Instagram stories, TikTok videos, and reels. It is available as an App for Shopify. Shopify users, hooray! You can use it for free. But if you want access to AI product photos in HD, 100+ video templates, and PRO features, you have to upgrade to the PRO plan, which costs $29.99 per month or $144 per year.
Creating pictures with Pebblely
I stumbled across this AI picture maker while gathering resources for another topic. But I feel it is worth your time, despite the fact that it is not on the first page of Google. If you are still keen on this topic, I would like to introduce Pebblely to you. I started as usual with our model photo and got a little bit excited when I realized that I had only 40 photos to generate for free.

There are several types available here; for my store, I chose a basic style with a color pass for my model apparel. Then I tried more styles, and below you can see the final chosen photos.

Due to a little overclocking, my percentage of affordable tries dropped. The issue is that the AI does not inquire how many versions to produce, which is critical when you have limited access.
Therefore, returning to our tested items, our next one is a jacket. The cutting of the jacket was quick and brilliant in all details.

It’s a pity that I have limited tries; it is fun.

Go on with the current topic. I’d like to highlight again that the product’s cutting is flawless.

I choose photos with different styles and variations that can be used not only on your store’s product pages but also for marketing and advertising, mailing, social media, banners, and sliders.

I didn’t have any more tries, and the photo with the lipsticks should be a little better. Nonetheless, we work with what we’re dealt and make the best decisions we can.

I think the 40 shots I took turned out really well. How can we ensure that we never reach a limit? Pebbleby has three paid options you can use. Pebblely is $19 per month. This includes generating 1000 images every month, custom photo themes and settings, and custom image sizes up to 2048 by 2048. Pebblely Pro is $39 per month. This includes unlimited images, custom photo themes and settings, custom image sizes up to 2048 by 2048, and priority support. You can cancel anytime in the app with both And the last one is Pebblely Bespoke; as usual, to choose this plan, you have to contact developers.
Final thoughts
When I started this topic, I thought that it would be like my article about product descriptions created with AI. You will simply test different AI product image generators, most of which are free or partially free, and then describe extensions for the most common platforms such as Magento 2, Shopify, WooCommerce, and so on. Yet it did not go as planned.
While exploring what AI has to offer for making product photography, I went with the representativeness of the first page of Google results. And how many do you suppose I was able to examine? There are just two of them. I discovered some other AI by chance while gathering information for another post.
Why, do you ask me, did I fail six more AI picture maker tests? Primarily because it is mostly impossible to try for a test. For three of them, you have to buy it, while the other three will want you to provide your shop details in order to get added to a waiting list, and I am still waiting for their invitation. And I hope I will write the second part of this topic when I get it.
As far as platform extensions go, CreatorKit is the only one that has a module for Shopify right now. None of the others are in any way implemented on the platforms for now.
To sum up what I learned from testing AI podcast image generators, I can say with confidence that you shouldn’t give up on photo sessions just yet. It’s true that many AI-powered picture makers focus on making images for social media and marketing campaigns, which tend to be more eye-catching and attention-grabbing. But the needs and requirements are different for e-commerce and product galleries.
In the product gallery of an online store, the focus should be on the product itself. Customers want to see clear, high-quality pictures that show the details, features, and benefits of the product. Because of this, it is very important to be able to quickly cut the product image out of its background and put it on a clean, neutral background.
This is where tools that use AI can be very helpful. With the help of advanced algorithms and machine learning, these tools can automatically find the product and separate it from the background, even if the image has shapes or patterns that are hard to understand. This saves the user time and effort, so they can focus on making the image look better and giving their store’s product gallery a consistent look.
In conclusion, many AI picture makers may focus on images for social media, but the ability to quickly and easily cut out product images and make clean, high-quality images is a useful feature for online stores that want to show off their products.
