What companies use Shopify? You’ll also get stories, apps for stores, and its speed scores.

Here is the complete info about the top 14 Shopify stores. Additionally, you’ll see the page speed scores and themes used in the biggest companies that use Shopify. Let’s begin.

Do you like the designer, former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, and former soccer superstar David Beckham? Did you know that Red Bull contains the same total of caffeine as a regular cup of coffee? Who is the lover of Heinz’s iconic tomato sauce? Or maybe you are a follower of Ketnipz comics.

To what, though, that does seem to be the question. What all these people and brands have in common is a love of Shopify.

Shopify platform is now one of the most popular choices to start selling online. That‘s why I wanted to see which brands are using it. I am gonna mention apps or services the websites use, test page speed, and so on. The new post will cover both mainstream and indie brands. 14 amazing Shopify stores are waiting for you to be inspired.

Read on our website to learn more.

First, it will be great to know why Shopify became a crush of millions of users around the world. How many companies use Shopify? Over 4.4 million websites globally use Shopify as of 2023. These are stores that understand the advantages of the platform and can prove it. So let me tell you a little bit more about their eCommerce choice.

The name Shopify means “to make a shop”

That is exactly what the platform helps customers to do. Shopify Inc. is a Canadian e-commerce company headquartered in Ottawa. It was created by three friends and was launched in 2006.

Here are some cool statistics:

  • In 2022 there are 2,625,298 merchants globally. For September this is 3.9 million live websites.
  • In 2022 the Shopify market share is 4.4% compared with Magento, OpenCart, and BigCommerce.
  • Now Shopify supports a total of 21 languages and 11 international currencies.
  • 7k+ applications are available in the Shopify app store.

This particular post is not about pricing or the benefits of using the Shopify eCommerce platform. Still, you must know that Shopify’s subscribers are paid, users.

You may start at $5 a month. It enables a Starter store good for selling products through email, social media, SMS, and places where you need to share a simple checkout link. It is gonna be a Shopify buy button, but not an online store builder for future customizations. This starter plan is the cheapest and then followed by Basic at $29/month, Shopify at $79/month, and Advanced Shopify at $299/month.

Later in EDIY posts, we will discuss the “filling” of different plans. Many hands make light work. Stay tuned.

So, what are the famous Shopify stores?

Celebrity brands that use Shopify stores to power up their business

Winter days? Many people just need drinks that contain a significant amount of caffeine to stay focused while driving or working. Take a look at one of the most famous Shopify clients.

Redbull

The Austrian-based Red Bull GmbH company chooses Shopify to increase online conversions. It ranks 9th on the list of the 15 biggest companies that use the platform.

Along with top competitors like Coca-Cola Company and PepsiCo Inc. Red Bull still holds the largest share of the energy drink market – 43%. In 2021, the company’s global revenue amounted to about 8.87 billion euros worldwide. Red Bull remains the leading energy drink brand in the United States in 2022.

The company doesn’t only sell drinks. Redbull Shopify store sells hats, t-shirts, backpacks, jackets, and other accessories connected to the renowned brand. Red Bull Shop has purchased Shopify Plus for eCommerce in 2017.

As promised, there are the page speed scores measured by the PageSpeed Insight tool.

When it comes to functionality chosen by Redbull as one of Shopify stores, we may see the “Testimonials Slider & Reviews” and “Back in Stock Notification alerts” apps. So it is easy for Redbull to show a Testimonials slider, photo & video reviews carousel, and set push notifications to inform a customer when an item is back in stock with a Push notification or sms.

The Redbull site captures our attention with fantastic professionally-made photos. And, of course, you will evaluate a pills navigation menu. This great navigation style adds a twist.

Another brand with the products we want to try is Heinz. Ketchup or Catsup? Let’s see.

Heinz

Heinz is the largest producer of pickles, vinegar, and ketchup in the United States. Since the beginning of the favorite sauce production in 1876, it has been called Catsup. And Heinz is still referred to as catsup in some parts of the Southern US.

Heinz was a pioneer in selling its products in see-through glass bottles. Such a decision by the company founder was explained by the wish to showcase his products’ quality and purity. Probably, the transparent bottle doesn’t surprise anyone nowadays, but in times of opaque brown flasks, the Heinz bottle was a buzz.

Today, the company’s Shopify store sells about 650 million bottles of ketchup annually. However, the COVID-19 pandemic put its spokes in the wheels at one time. That has driven Heinz to increase its eCommerce sales. So, Heinz signed its contract with Shopify Plus, and “Heinz to Home” launched on 9th April 2020.

When it comes to Shopify functionality chosen by Heinz, you may see a custom Heinz theme, a “Testimonials Slider & Reviews” app, a “Reputon Customer Reviews” app, an “Order Limits ‑ MinMaxify” app, and the “ Hextom: Quick Announcement Bar” app. This all gives the Heinz store the power to promote discounts on an announcement bar, show a Testimonials slider, and set limits on user products or even the entire shopping cart.

It’s no secret that Ed Sheeran is a lover of Heinz’s iconic tomato sauce. When I think of cutie celebs, the Kardashian family comes to mind. While Kim Kardashian was grabbing people’s attention with the brand-new Food god truffle ketchup, her sister Kylie Jenner was working on her own website. This is the next client in the Shopify stores’ list.

Kylie Cosmetics

Is Kylie Jenner on Shopify? Well, both sisters are collaborating with Shopify. First, it was a Kim-owned cosmetic line, KKW Beauty. The company was founded in 2017 by Kim Kardashian and then closed. To undergo a rebrand, a celebrity released the “SKKN by Kim” skincare brand. The website is powered by Shopify.

Kylie Jenner runs her online store “Kylie cosmetics” on a modern and responsive Shopify theme – Bloom. The website includes nice Shopify features, such as product reviews and automated emails. The Kylie Cosmetics company is ranked 14th on the list of the 15 biggest companies that use Shopify.

By the way, Kylie Jenner’s namesake makeup line was launched on a single channel – her own Shopify store. You may read a story about the collaboration between the platform and Kylie Cosmetics.

When shopping, pay attention to the top global navigation. It offers various designs when switching between collections.

Since we’re talking about beauty, it would be appropriate to mention The Beckhams Family – loyal owners of Shopify stores.

David and Victoria Beckham

I guess everybody has heard about David and Victoria Beckham as one of the longest-standing couples.

Some people may remember Victoria being a promo model for the national newspaper, The Daily Mirror. And of course, most know her as a singer of the iconic girl group Spice Girls. There is now about David Beckham. He was the first British player to play in 100 UEFA Champions League games. Guys might admire him as a soccer player for 20 years at the top level. He won 19 Major trophies during this time.

Well, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham promote their luxury brands on Shopify stores.

Eyewear by David Beckham follows his style. A range of sunglasses, optical frames, and global travels was designed in collaboration with Italian eyewear specialist Safilo Group.

Bravo to the Eyewear store! The Core Web Vitals test is definitely passed.

When it comes to the Shopify functionality used at the Eyewear site, you may see a memorable Shopify theme Debut. Among apps, there are “Reputon Customer Reviews”, and “Contact Us Form with Captcha” that help get in touch with customers in minutes.

Victoria Beckham is a creative owner of the Victoria Beckham store. It offers a luxury ready-to-wear collection of elegant dresses and accessories.

When it comes to Shopify functionality chosen by Victoria Beckham, you may see a “Testimonials Slider & Reviews” app.

By the way, Beckham’s sites focus on simplicity. They use a minimalistic design with an emphasis on text. Instead, the users’ attention is not distracted from the classy products.

Another Victoria Beckham Beauty.com/ brand website offers makeup, skincare, perfume, and wellness products. To launch the store Victoria’s team worked with Shopify Plus partner – Fostr’s agency. They helped to leverage the options of the Shopify platform. Thus the great products together with Shopify’s checkout UI the sales on victoriabeckhambeauty.com sales more than tripled to nearly $10 million in its first full year of trading.

And remarkably, Penguin Books UK published Victoria Beckham’s book Fashion, style, and beauty bible. Let’s see what a British publishing house has in common with our story today.

Penguin Books

The publishing company was co-founded in 1935. Nowadays its market value is $3.67 billion. In 2013 Penguin merged with Random House, and they keep publishing academic, educational, fiction, and non-fiction books. Here is a short history of Penguin Books. Read to feel why clients love them.

And you all know why we are here. At https://shop.penguin.co.uk/ done with Shopify, you can buy books, special accessories, and gifts. Penguin Books ranks 11th on the list of famous companies that are presented in Shopify stores.

Please pay attention to the predictive search enabled by Searchanise from the Shopify App Store. The thumbnail images and descriptions definitely refine customers’ searches.

The last two for this post are Shopify stores that upgraded from the Magento platform to Shopify Plus. I will talk about the apparel manufacturer Gymshark and the global fashion brand Rebecca Minkoff.

Gymshark

Gymshark is a British athletic wear brand. Founded in June 2012, the company started as a place for selling supplements that helped Gymshark get a strong position in the fitness community. And later it became not only a store for fitness apparel but a sports apparel player worldwide, holding its own with big names like Nike and Adidas in gyms around the world.

And all this even though Gymshark was created by young 19-year-old Ben Francis and a group of his high-school friends. Over the past 10 years, the company reached a net revenue of £401.9 million. Here we are assuming online sales, because Gymshark had no physical stores until October 2022. Does it happen sometimes? – Yes.

Gymshark’s products are sold in 180 countries via websites in 13 languages. The biggest website traffic comes from the US, the UK, Canada, Australia, and Germany. According to BuiltWith, Gymshark is using 107 technologies for its websites. And of course, the company uses the Shopify Plus plan.

See what speed the real users are experiencing on the Gymshark website. The page speed scores measured by the PageSpeed Insight tool are:

  • home – 34
  • category – 47
  • product page – 53

When it comes to the Shopify functionality chosen by Gymshark, I found out that the store is using Shopify’s POS system to offer immersive online-offline customer experiences. Gymshark is also using Shopify Scripts. It allows merchants to write their custom code on Shopify Plus’ servers and customize the checkout. Among Shopify tools, you can see the “Testimonials Slider & Reviews” app and a  “Riskified” software for preventing fraud. Gymshark also uses the “Nosto” – a platform across Shopify merchants to showcase personalized products and content.

When browsing the Gymshark store, I typed my query in a search bar and it opened a full-screen search. So clients can take full advantage of the search at a visual level. Cool idea, isn’t it?

Rebecca Minkoff

Rebecca Minkoff is a global fashion brand that was created by Rebecca Minkoff and her brother Uri Minkoff in 2005 in New York City. There’s a bit more to this name, though.

Are you aware that all of Rebecca Minkoff’s bags are named after different phases of love? It even caused calls from angry boyfriends and husbands. In particular, it happened after the brand bestseller bag “The morning after bag” was produced with a ‘handwritten’ card “Call Me 646-420-1475 Vincent” inside. Imagine the man’s reaction.

Nowadays the Rebecca Minkoff brand is distributed in 100 brand-name boutiques throughout the world. The company’s peak revenue was $91.0M in 2021. And that’s not surprising because, with a currency selector that supports hundreds of countries and more than 70 currencies, the Rebecca Minkoff store built an excellent shopping process for customers in different regions.

I also enjoyed the big images on the product page very much.

See what speed the real users are experiencing on Rebecca Minkoff’s website. The page speed scores measured by the PageSpeed Insight tool are:

When it comes to the Shopify functionality used at Rebecca Minkoff’s site, you may see the 4 apps. This is “Klaviyo -Klaviyo: Email Marketing & SMS “ for creating email and social campaigns. They use the already mentioned “Riskified” and “Back in Stock Notification alerts” apps, too. And there’s also the “Reputon Customer Reviews” app that enables importing reviews and testimonials.

Rebecca Minkoff as well as other Shopify stores took full advantage of the platform when using the Shopify Plus plan.

After the last two clothing brands that use Shopify, now is the turn for the following 7 sites.

The 2020 global pandemic brought rapid growth to indie businesses created by solo founders and independent bootstrapped business owners. At EDIY we have told you that one of our primary goals is to support smaller businesses. What brands are powered by Shopify? See the list of popular indie brands with an online power built on Shopify.

Shopify stores built by Indie brands

Tentree

My first Shopify store from the indie brands’ list was started by really great men. Maybe this is not the one of biggest brands on Shopify, but their contribution to the environment is priceless. Tentree company plants ten trees for each item purchased! Three years after its formation, on March 27, 2014, Tentree guys together with international non-profit organizations reached 1 million trees planted. Besides they created 160,000 hours of employment for locals in developing countries.

As of today, over 50 million trees planted. So the Tentree brand store must work, work, and work. Amazingly clean design welcomes you.

I would also like to note that Tentree’s website is highly functional in comparison with some other Shopify stores. Among apps you can see PushOwl Web Push Notifications, Yotpo Loyalty & Rewards,  Oxi Social Login,  Wishlist Plus, Back in Stock: Restock Alerts, Testimonials Slider & Reviews. All these help to increase customer conversion.

When browsing the website I liked the pagination decorated as a fir tree. A shopping cart sidebar, with cross-sells product suggestions also plays its part in making the store user-friendly and easy to navigate without too much thought on the user’s part.

Goodfair

If you ever wondered where donated clothing ends up, here is the answer. Goodfair! This is one of the directions aimed at making secondhand shopping more accessible. Goodfair is a growing online thrift brand that offers the lowest prices anywhere because of its low cost of goods sold and lean operating costs. It was launched in 2019 by Topper Luciani whose prior startups were Sir Drake, Ronnie’s Ties, Nifty Thrifty, and TagPop. As of today, Goodfair traffic comes mostly from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ukraine, and Pakistan.

When it comes to Shopify functionality chosen by Goodfair, you may see a Shopify Dawn theme. The website also uses 5 applications to improve customer experience: Google Reviews by Reputon, Recharge Subscriptions,  Infinite Options, Yeps Announcement Bar, Top Bar, and Instafeed ‑ Instagram Feed.

I’d like to give the store first place in match Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). This standard aims to make owners create web content easier to read to people with disabilities. Just look at the stunning fonts and amazingly designed buttons.

Suta

My next Shopify store is Suta – a popular Indian shop profitable in the fashion industry. It was started in 2016 by two sisters Sujata and Taniya Biswas. The name Suta consists of “Su” and “Ta” (from Sujata and Taniya) and the word means “thread”.

Nowadays the company is famous for supporting 14,000 Artisans who work on the sarees. After launching a brick-and-mortar store in Mumbai, Suta owners started their collaboration with the Shopify platform.

And here I’d like to mention the online store search. Typing in the search bar instantly renders results on the page. Visit a store and enjoy shopping.

Ketnipz

Ketnipz is, in essence, a pink bean-shaped persona. However, Hambley as the artist behind the Ketnipz says: “It’s not a ‘bean’ bean as it’s definitely closer to being human, but it’s genderless and curvy like a bean is. I guess you could call it a Human Bean.”

British illustrator Harry Hambley started the webcomic Ketnipz to express his ideas and the inner universe. The leading character “Bean” is spreading positivity and mental wellness. Find the #ketnipz hashtag on Instagram to understand more.

The KETNIPZ® merchandise store built with Shopify is a real find for fans! After all, the website is joyful, like the bean persona itself. I like the bright colors and fun fonts. That feels great to the devoted audience.

Cowboy

Cowboy is a Brussels-based e-bike start-up that was founded in 2017. While offering reasonable price high-tech e-bikes the Cowboy company has been a key player in the European bike industry. Recently it successfully entered the US sale place, too.

The Cowboy is a connected electric bike for urban riders. The bikes are considered one of the best urban e-bike brands on the market. When you buy Cowboy models, you get app support and insurance.

The Cowboy brand site has exactly the same elegant and affordable design as e-bikes. I’d like to pay attention to the shopping cart form with sets of related information to choose the best bike you dream of. Just press the “Order now” in the right top corner and proceed with a user-friendly process of choosing the bike.

You can also see the Testimonials Slider & Reviews app used as an extra Shopify option.

Pot Gang

My next Shopify store for today is POT GANG. The project was launched by young amateur gardener Sam Smith in London. It offers a grow-your-own vegetable and herb subscription with materials needed for beginning gardeners. The monthly box contains seasonal seeds, pots, compost, and step-by-step instructions for use.

What’s interesting is that the Pot Gang subscription service took off during the height of the Covid lockdown. A drowning man will clutch at a straw, as the saying goes.

So let’s look at the store itself. What a bright design with attractive elements. There are many informational UI elements responsible for representing the best possible details. And if you’re looking for engaging product page samples, Pot Gang is exactly what you need.

Among Shopify apps used on the website, you may see Reputon Customer Reviews and Google Reviews by Reputon. The entire store is powered by a versatile premium Symmetry theme.

Bruvi

Based in Los Angeles, the Bruvi brand is the name for a kitchen gadget making great-tasting coffee. It was started by Sung Oh and Mel Elias. They both have 34 years of coffee experience.

Bruvi machine can make regular filtered coffee, high-pressure espresso, Americanos, infused coffee, matcha lattes, and even cold brew coffee. By the way, the last one is a feat for coffee gadgets, namely the Bruvi is the first single-serve coffeemaker capable of preparing that beverage. Bruvi is Wi-Fi enabled which allows for pre-programing your hot drink to be ready for when you’re home.

To promote its innovative single-serve coffee system online, the Bruvi team decided to start in the team of Shopify stores. We are confident that you will be delighted with the shopping experience at bruvi.com. The website is a great example of excellent performance.

When it comes to Shopify apps chosen by the Bruvi store you may see Testimonials Slider & Reviews, Smile: Loyalty & Rewards, and Klaviyo: Email Marketing & SMS.

I’d like to emphasize the elegant custom design of store pages. Clear UI elements with high-quality reveal animation create a very enjoyable experience when looking through the website.

By the way, have you noticed Bruvi’s performance results? What good page speed scores! And what’s fast for users is good for visibility, traffic, and leads to your brand site. Do you agree?

Having to get our final message across in just a few words.

Final thoughts

Sometimes, famous sites like Gymshark or Kylie Jenner perform poorly in PageSpeed Insights. Though at the same time, it happens that other top Shopify stores show high-speed results, such as the Eyewear website. And many of the indie brands mentioned today, show excellent speed results as well.

What does it depend on? We will discuss it in our next articles. Page speed is a critical factor in ranking a website higher on Google’s search engine results. So we think we should talk about it.

And today when analyzing the complete info about the Shopify stores for sale I can agree that Shopify is the right place to build a website. There are currently 2200+ apps available.
