Horizon

Shopify theme by Shopify

Large product cards and modern typefaces give Horizon a polished, minimal look suited to clothing stores and other visually led catalogs. Browsing tools include infinite scroll, a mega menu, and swatch filters, while a slide-out cart, quick buy, and back-in-stock alerts round out the theme's shopping flow.

v4.2.0 FEATURE
Release Notes - Version 4.2.0

This update improves support for right-to-left (RTL) languages. The HTML page's base text direction is now set to match the shopper's requested language, correcting text order and alignment. This update also includes various bug fixes, notably the cart drawer and cart page showing stale line items after using the browser Back button.

What's Changed

Added

  • Adds a new Liquid drop and styling to support display of right-to-left languages. All templates now render [dir={{ request.locale.direction }}] to communicate the language's direction to the browser.
  • Alignment and position settings that store left/right values now render as logical CSS (start/end), so they mirror correctly on right-to-left storefronts with no change on left-to-right storefronts.

Fixes and improvements

  • Align the account popover dialog so it opens from the account button instead of the bottom of the header.
  • Fixed the cart drawer and cart page showing stale line items after a browser Back, whether the page comes back from the back/forward cache or is rebuilt from the HTTP cache.
  • Render the Catalog link in menus as text instead of a Liquid error when no product image is available.
  • Fixed the filters drawer leaving empty space beside the "See items" button when no filters were applied.
  • Serve smaller product card images in two-column mobile collection and search grids.
  • Load Quick Add's JavaScript only when Quick Add is enabled.
  • Fixed the header language selector's dropdown arrow keeping the top row text color instead of following the transparent header text color.
  • Fixed price filter values being wiped mid-edit when a shopper moves between the low and high price boxes.
  • Fixed anchor-positioned popovers staying glued to the physical left edge of their trigger in right-to-left locales.
  • Fixed prices, price ranges, unit prices, SKUs, discount codes and gift card codes rendering with their parts in the wrong order inside right-to-left text.
  • Fixed horizontal scroll hint fades and scroll-into-view alignment in right-to-left languages, so the fade appears on the correct edge and tracks the scroll position.
  • Fixed uploaded videos in popup link blocks not playing in Safari. The video now starts when the popup opens and stops when it closes.
  • Fixed swatch rows widening rounded product cards before their layout initializes.
v4.1.5 FIX
Release Notes - Version 4.1.5

This release ships multiple bug fixes and performance improvements.

What's Changed

Fixes and improvements

  • Fixed blocks with rounded corners being forced to equal heights.
  • Fixed the page jumping back to the top after closing the cart drawer on a phone, so shoppers keep their place while browsing.
  • Fixed popular countries being listed twice in the country selector.
  • Fixed desktop header dropdown menus opening blank while the page is still loading.
  • Fixed a thin line of the page background appearing along the bottom edge of the header's top row.
  • Fixed app blocks not responding to clicks on the storefront when placed inside a Hero section.
  • Improved display on iPhone: pages now extend edge-to-edge, removing the white bars beside the notch in landscape, while content and controls stay clear of the notch and home indicator.
  • Fixed group blocks in product cards stacking on mobile when their "Vertical on mobile" setting was turned off.
  • Fixed cart quantity inputs losing what the buyer typed when the cart refreshed mid-edit.
  • Fixed the cart item quantity input shrinking, most visibly in the cart drawer on tablets.
  • Fixed grid layouts, such as the collection list, overflowing the page and overlapping other sections on the storefront.
  • Fixed a horizontal scrollbar flashing on slideshows when moving the pointer between the pagination dots and the slide.
  • Fixed a slide's video thumbnail showing behind the text when a slideshow places content below the media.
  • Multiple improvements for rendering performance.
v4.1.4 FIX
Release Notes - Version 4.1.4

This release ships multiple bug fixes and performance improvements.

What's Changed

Fixes and improvements

  • Fixed desktop header submenus that could close before the pointer reached their links.
  • Minimized style tag loading for product cards to improve rendering performance.
  • Reduced layout work during initial page render by measuring header height only on pages that need it.
  • Preloaded price styles for empty product grids to prevent flash of unstyled content.
  • Fixed the Quick add button showing a disabled "Add" instead of "Choose" when a sold-out variant is selected, and kept the cart icon visible on out-of-stock buttons.
  • Removed unused animation and transition CSS rules from the base stylesheet.
  • Removed unused CSS custom properties from the theme's inline styles, reducing the CSS parsed on every page load.
  • Fixed the cart summary not staying in view when scrolling the cart page with "Extend to screen edge" enabled.
  • Improved mega menu keyboard and screen reader accessibility with a dedicated submenu toggle on desktop.
v4.1.3 FIX
Release Notes - Version 4.1.3

This release ships multiple bug fixes and performance improvements.

What's Changed

Fixes and improvements

  • Replace English-only section and block names with translated strings
  • Disable page view transitions in all Android web views to address reported errors

  • [Filters] Color overrides apply to both horizontal and vertical filters
  • [Product page] Improve sold-out variant styling for readability
  • [Quick-add] Products with selling plans always link to product pages
  • [Search] Fix search result tracking parameters for Analytics reports
  • [Spacer] Prevent mobile pixel spacers from collapsing in columns
  • [Performance] Multiple updates to improve CSS bundle sizes

A very good template for my original poster shop; it lets me showcase my collection in a striking way.

can it be that variants are not working, line over them as they are out of stock

This theme has made my life a lot easier; it is definitely an upgrade from Dawn. The next thing I'd hope for is the ability to allow customers to flip through from product to product of a collection instead of having to go back to the collection in order to look at the next product in that collection each and every time. EDIT: Oh there is a glitch though. Hero Images on vertical monitors cut off.

It's the perfect theme for my POD shirt business as far as natural layout and flow. It can be frustrating sometimes because of some of the issues between it's use of liquid and json. Sometimes I need to edit code. Some code cannot be edited to customize the way I would like. For a free theme you can't beat it. I have learned to accept the limitations versus paying a few hundred for a different one …

Honestly its really good, especially if you use sidekick or any IA to help you. No bug or glitch in my expierience, css perfectly responding for adjusting height of specific labels for mobile, pretty pretty good 9/10. I don't give 10 out of 10 because i think it should let you personalize more the mobile and the desktop version without making them react together, without modifying the css.

An increasing number of themes now feature a day/night toggle. Horizon is an excellent official Shopify theme, and it would be even better if it included this functionality.
