Introducing product comparison on product cards, a new table-style layout for the Product compare section, and a range of other improvements and fixes.

New

• Introducing the Product compare drawer, letting customers tick products as they browse your collection and search pages, then compare them side by side. To get started, add the Product compare drawer section to the Overlays group in the theme editor.
• The existing Product compare section (not to be confused with the new Product compare drawer) has new settings:
  • Layout on desktop: choose Labels in a left column for a classic table layout, with labels down the left and a column for each product.
  • Pin product summary when scrolling: keeps each product's image, title and price in view on long comparisons.
• Labels for metafield blocks within compare sections can now come from a metafield. Enter its namespace and key (e.g. custom.spec2_label) instead of the label text.
• The Product description compare block has a new Strip HTML option, useful if your descriptions contain tables.
• The Product summary compare block has a new Button size setting for the quick add button.
• The Product badges block in the Product page and Featured product sections has a new Show sale label setting, which is off by default. Turn it on to keep showing the sale label in this block.

Changed

• Icon pickers in Product page and Featured product blocks now show a shortlist of the most relevant icons. Select Custom to upload any other icon.
• The 18 icons added in the last release have been refined to better match the rest of the icon set. Note, if you're using any of the new icons you may find that you need to adjust their size after applying this update.
• The shipping calculator now only lists countries your store ships to.
• The Compatibility Finder now also supports filters built from metafields in the filter namespace.

Fixes and Improvements

• Developer note: the schema in the Product page and Featured product sections is now minified to stay within Shopify's file size limits. In the code editor, right-click and select Format document to make it readable.
• Fixed a rare issue where top-level desktop menu links with a dropdown sometimes couldn't be clicked.
• Fixed an issue where empty forms added with Custom Liquid or app blocks could be hidden.
• Fixed a conflict with some apps that could stop the product media gallery working. Developer note: The 'media-gallery' web component has been renamed to 'theme-media-gallery'.
• Fixed an issue where the Page header section didn't turn ++ into a line break in custom headings.
• Fixed an issue where the Product switcher block in the Product compare section didn't work when its products came from a metafield.

Say hello to the Compatibility Finder (or My Garage, if you're selling auto parts), custom icon uploads, 18 new icons, extendable product page schema, and a range of other SEO and GEO improvements.

New

• Introducing the Compatibility Finder, letting customers save their own details — a vehicle they drive, a dietary preference they follow, a device they own — and see which products suit them across your store. Learn how to set it up, or see it in action on our Alpha demo (car parts) and Peak demo (health and wellness).
  • Added a Compatibility finder block to the Header section. Customers can save up to five sets of filter selections, then jump straight to the matching products in any collection. Selections are stored on the customer's own device, so no account or login is needed.
  • Added a Compatibility badge block to the Product page and Featured product sections, showing a message on products that match what the customer has saved. An optional second message can be shown when a product doesn't match.
  • Added a Compatibility badge to Theme settings > Product cards, so matching products are highlighted throughout your collections. It can sit above the title, below the price, or as a full-width bar across the top of the card.
• Product page structured data (schema.org) is now extendable, letting you add specifications, pros, cons and general product attributes using metafields. To get started, set Theme settings > SEO & GEO > Schema on product page and featured product section to Theme - extendable, then (important!) add the Structured product data section to your product page.
• You can now upload your own icons. Select Custom from any icon picker and upload your own file.
• Added 18 new icons, available anywhere the theme offers an icon picker:

• The Multicolumn, Logo list and Gallery sections now let you add descriptive text to each card, which is great for SEO and GEO.
• The Contact form section can now redirect to a success page rather than only showing a message, which can help with campaign tracking.
• Various product page blocks have a new Visibility option to show only when the selected variant is out of stock AND set to continue selling.

Changed

• The Call to action settings in the Header section now include an On click setting, which switches between linking to a page and opening the Compatibility Finder. A new Show on setting controls whether it appears on mobile, desktop or both.
• Promos within mega menus are no longer indexed. Previously this could lead Google to prioritise mega menu promo images over the main page image.
• Product structured data has been improved throughout, and now uses the ProductGroup schema.

Fixes and Improvements

• Various speed, SEO and GEO improvements.
• Fixed an issue in the Quick filter section when using it across different domains for the same store.
• Fixed an issue where the Samsung Internet browser could attempt to force dark mode.
• Fixed an issue on the mobile search page where the search bar could show when it shouldn't have.
• Fixed an issue where removing an item from the cart didn't update that item in the Bulk order list section.

Updated theme onboarding, alongside minor bug fixes and improvements.

Changed

• On the Product page, the Table block will no longer display on the storefront if the table is completely empty. Empty Table blocks will still display in the Theme Editor, making them easier to edit and configure.

Fixes and Improvements

• Fixed an issue with small horizontal product cards in carousels where the product title text appeared too large.
• Fixed a layout issue with featured article cards when the image shape was set to Original.
• Improved Theme Editor performance when editing text with line breaks, such as ++, and animated text, such as [This|That]. This involved removing snippets/animated-list.liquid and moving the code inline to allow smoother rendering in the Theme Editor.

Adds Social video reel section for UGC-style content, better email signup tracking with success landing pages, specific article selection within Blog posts section and broader layout improvements.

New

• Added a new Social video reel section and Social video reel product page block, making it easier to add social videos or user-generated content to your store. MP4 videos only.
• The Email signup section and Email signup form blocks throughout the theme now include an option to set a success landing page. This can help with conversion tracking and gives you more control over what happens after a customer signs up.
• Multicolumn, Logo list and Gallery sections now let you set a custom background color per block without having to create a new color scheme.
• Added support for Shopify’s account login popup.
• The Blog posts section now allows you to select specific articles to show.
• Added two new cart settings in Theme settings > Cart/Cart drawer:
  • Show product subtitle
  • Show SKU
• The Multicolumn and Testimonial sections now include new settings for neater alignment of text and buttons across columns.
• Collection cards can now be made smaller, with 2XS, 3XS and 4XS added as options to the Card size on desktop setting.
• Various carousel-based sections now include a new Width on desktop setting, allowing carousels to be contained to page width, standard, or extend to the full width of the screen.

Changed

• The Set carousel/grid to full screen width setting has been removed from sections. To achieve the same layout, set the new Width on desktop setting to Wide.

Fixes and Improvements

• Fixed an issue where the Email signup section could generate a duplicate form ID when used on the same page as Email signup form blocks. This had no material impact, but keeps the markup tidier.
• Fixed an issue where spacing below icons in the Gallery section could be lost.

This release changes the default states of Playtime and Tails presets to not include the snow effect in the header.
