v13.0.0 MAJOR

A mobile dock (a bar of shortcuts along the bottom of phone screens), a pop-up and an age verification gate, section categories in the theme editor's Add section menu, a cart line targeting fix, schema-correct Shopify standard event payloads, and a Countdown bar fix for three-digit day counts.

Added

  • Important: Mobile dock — a new section in the theme editor's new Overlay group that pins up to six shortcuts to the bottom of phone screens: Home, Menu, Search, Cart (with the item count), Account, and custom links. Menu, Search and Cart open the same menu, search and cart as the header icons. Each item can have its own label and icon (or a custom SVG), the colors match the header unless you pick your own, and an optional setting keeps the dock hidden at the top of the page and slides it in as visitors scroll down. The sticky add-to-cart bar, the back-to-top button and the end of the page move up so the dock never covers them. Hidden on screens 768px and wider
  • Important: Pop-up — a new Overlay group section for a newsletter or promotion pop-up. Build it from heading, text, button, e-mail sign-up, discount code and countdown blocks, add an optional image, and place it in the center or a bottom corner. It opens after a delay or when a desktop visitor moves to leave the page, can return after a number of days you choose, and can be hidden from signed-in customers or limited to a single page. The discount code comes with a copy button and can stay hidden until the visitor signs up
  • Age verification — a new Overlay group section that asks visitors to confirm their age before they can browse the store. It appears before the page is shown, can't be closed without an answer, and is remembered in the visitor's browser. The decline button sends visitors to a link you choose
  • Sections in the theme editor's Add section menu are now grouped into categories (Collections, Products, Blog, Media, Storytelling, Reviews, Forms, Promotions, Information and Layout), so the section you need is quicker to find than in one long alphabetical list

Other fixes and improvements

  • Important: Fixed cart quantity changes and removals updating the wrong line when the cart's line order changes — for example after an app, a discount, or a newly added item shifts lines while the cart page or cart drawer is open. Lines are now updated by their unique key instead of their position, so the item you change is always the one that changes
  • Fixed Shopify standard event payloads not matching Shopify's published schema — cart line updates now report where they came from (cart page, drawer, product form, or quick view) and which lines changed; cart errors carry an error code; product view and variant select include the product's options and the selected variant's title, availability, and price; collection and search updates report the resulting product count; and the cart page's view event carries the actual cart. Pixel and analytics apps now receive complete, valid data instead of silently discarding these events. Removing the last item on the cart page also no longer throws a script error that suppressed its event
  • Fixed the Countdown bar cutting off day counts of 100 or more (a regression since 8.0.0) — the day column now widens to fit three- and four-digit values instead of clipping them to two digits
  • Pressing Escape to close the mobile menu no longer leaves the page unable to scroll — the menu now closes the same way as tapping the menu icon, and keyboard focus returns to the menu button instead of being lost
  • Fixed the header's cart count showing an empty bubble when the cart holds more than 99 items — it now shows an asterisk as intended
v12.0.0 MAJOR

Shopify standard events support, per-area font choices, a blog feature pack, cleaner theme settings, and Collection tabs promotion fixes.

Added

  • Important: Shopify standard events integration — the theme now publishes 10 standard events (page view, product view, variant select, cart view, cart line/note updates, cart errors, collection view/update, search update) so analytics and pixel apps can track commerce interactions without custom code. Cart discount updates are not published, as the theme has no cart discount-code input (codes are entered at checkout). Zero performance impact: the module loads deferred, cart payloads are reused from existing AJAX responses, and every dispatch is guarded — if the events module fails to load, all store flows run unchanged.
  • Per-area font sources — navigation, buttons, and subheadings can now each use the body font (default), the heading font, or any Shopify library font (Theme settings > Typography). Stores that don't touch the new settings render exactly as before.
  • Related articles section for blog posts — shows same-blog articles that share a tag with the current post, backfilled with the most recent, and hides itself on single-article blogs. Included on the article template by default.
  • New article blocks: Author bio (avatar, name, bio — name defaults to the article author), Products (pick up to 8 products; one renders as a card, several as a swipeable carousel), and Email signup (reuses the theme's newsletter form). The author block is included on the article template by default.
  • "Show SKU" option for product cards (Theme settings > Product card, off by default) — displays each product's SKU under the title on collection pages, search results, product carousels, and in search suggestions. Ideal for technical catalogues where customers shop by part number.

Changed

  • Removed the custom font upload slots that shipped in 12.0.0 (the "Custom fonts" settings group and the Custom font A/B options). Stores that configured a custom font revert to their selected Shopify library fonts on update. The navigation, button, and subheading font choices remain available.
  • Alignment settings across 12 sections and the product card now use the native alignment control instead of a dropdown — saved values are preserved, no action needed
  • Theme editor settings now hide when they don't apply (autoplay speed without autoplay, promotion settings without a promotion, filter options with filtering disabled, sticky-header shadow without a sticky header, line item property options for other property types), so section settings are shorter and clearer

Other fixes and improvements

  • Important: Fixed quick view, quick add, and other storefront features not working on automatically-generated collection pages (such as /collections/all on stores that never created an "all" collection, and vendor/type collections) — an id-less collection broke the theme's inline configuration script on exactly those pages
  • Fixed sticky menus, dropdowns, and sticky filter sidebars sitting in the wrong position on first page load when an announcement bar is shown above the header — the header's position is now measured correctly on load (and on resize) without needing to scroll first
  • Product grids now cross-fade smoothly when filtering, sorting, or loading more products in supported browsers, instead of swapping instantly — the effect is skipped automatically for visitors who prefer reduced motion
  • Improved keyboard accessibility of side panels and drawers (mobile filters, account address panel, pickup availability, product comparison, side-panel menus) — focus is now trapped inside an open panel so Tab and Shift+Tab cycle within it instead of drifting to the page behind, and returns to the element that opened it on close
  • Fixed color swatches not appearing for non-English variant option names — the "is this a color option" check is now centralized in one place, so any option name added under "Variant option for swatches" is recognized consistently across product pages, product cards, and collection filters
  • Fixed promotion banners only appearing on the first Collection tabs tab — promotions are now shown on AJAX-loaded tabs too. Each block's promotion card is server-rendered (so image, text, colors and RTL stay correct) and inserted at its configured position when the tab's products load
  • Fixed Collection tabs promotions not showing in the theme editor — inactive tabs are now prefetched in design mode, so promotions load and display the same way they do on the storefront
  • Fixed selecting a Collection tabs block in the theme editor not switching to its tab — the preview now follows the selected block (revealing its promotion) and stays on that tab through the section re-render that happens when editing a block's settings
v11.0.0 MAJOR

Shopify standard events support for analytics and pixel apps, plus Collection tabs promotion fixes.

  • Fixed selecting a Collection tabs block in the theme editor not switching to its tab — the preview now follows the selected block (revealing its promotion) and stays on that tab through the section re-render that happens when editing a block's settings
v10.0.0 MAJOR

Bug fix for pickup availability displaying incorrect location information when switching between product variants.

Added

  • Combined listings support — child products linked by a shared option (e.g., Color) swap seamlessly via Section Rendering API without a full page reload, with hover prefetching for instant transitions
  • Mobile menu parent links setting — when enabled, tapping a parent menu item navigates to its URL while only the arrow toggles the sub-menu
  • Korean, European Portuguese, and Polish locale files — Polish uses the full CLDR plural set (one / few / many / other) for grammatically correct count forms
  • "Hide section when collection list is empty" toggle on the Collection list section — suppresses the entire section render (no placeholder cards, no CSS load) when the Collections setting is connected to a metafield that resolves to zero collections

Other fixes and improvements

  • Important: Fixed pickup availability showing stale location info on variant change — moved availability fetch after section HTML render, delegated variant logic to update() method on <pickup-availability>, replaced server-rendered Liquid pickup content with <template> fallback to prevent stale data flash
  • Added scrollable thumbnails and product info (title + variant name) to PhotoSwipe lightbox — both toggleable via section settings, lightbox navigation syncs the product page slideshow, enabled looping
  • Fixed Liquid error: invalid url input on collection thumbnails in predictive search and mega-menu collection promotions (desktop and mobile) — passing the featured_image Image object to responsive-image instead of a URL string
  • Fixed wide promotion block button link not working on collection pages — link was reading from a non-existent nested setting, so the button always rendered as disabled
  • Fixed mobile menu jumping to the top when opening nested sub-menus — the scroll reset now only fires for top-level sub-menus that slide in as a new view, not for inline accordion details
  • Fixed predictive search suggestion text rendering as kubebspeckled instead of kubeb speckled — wrapped query.styled_text in a span so the inline-flex anchor preserves whitespace between the matched and unmatched parts
  • Fixed inverted CTA link condition in the mega menu — the conditional was reversed, so configured CTAs rendered as disabled and unconfigured ones got an empty href="". Affects both desktop and mobile mega menus.
  • Fixed variant image-set gallery not switching for non-ASCII variant values (Turkish ı/ş, Polish ł, German ß, etc.) — replaced the JS regex normalizer with Shopify's locale-aware handleize filter on both ends of the comparison; JS now reads data-handle from the selected option/input rather than computing it
v9.0.0 MAJOR

Added

  • OverlayManager for centralized panel/drawer management — stack-based open/close, ESC key support, and before-close hooks
  • <cart-remove> custom element for cart item removal, works in both cart drawer and main cart page
  • Collection tabs AJAX loading — inactive tabs load products on demand with client-side caching and request deduplication
  • <quick-navigation> custom element that closes on click outside and ESC key
  • Deferred mobile menu sub-menus using <template> elements, cloned into DOM on first interaction
  • Hindi, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese locale files
  • disconnectedCallback on 7 custom elements for theme editor memory leak prevention
  • <inventory-notice> custom element with animated inventory bar that transitions smoothly on variant change

Changed

  • Predictive search: LRU cache (50 entries), AbortController, event delegation, and proper error handling
  • Quick-view: client-side cache, AbortController, and improved script reloading
  • Announcement bar and breadcrumbs CSS inlined via {% style %} blocks, remaining CSS loaded async
  • First product image in collections uses fetchpriority="high" with eager loading
  • Shop-our-range priority images restricted to section.index == 1 (~583 KiB savings)
  • Responsive image: priority images always use full-resolution src, support defer parameter
  • Inventory bar uses CSS transition instead of keyframe animation so it animates between values on variant change instead of restarting from full width
  • Sticky scroller refactored — DOM reads moved to connectedCallback, header height updates separated from content recalculations, listens to product:variant-change for content updates
  • Head variables optimized — removed unused variables, inlined single-use variables
  • Cart popup excluded from OverlayManager (small popup, not a side panel)
  • Background video section deferred with <template> element — iframes and Shopify-hosted videos are inert until IntersectionObserver stamps them into the DOM near the viewport

Removed

  • All no-js and no-js-hidden references from Liquid and SCSS (21 files)

Other fixes and improvements

  • Fixed JSHint warning in shop-our-range.js
  • Fixed oldScrollPositon typo in sticky-scroller.js
  • Fixed quick-view canceled requests in product recommendations — added stopPropagation to prevent click bubbling to parent links, clear controller after success, always remove loading class on abort
  • Fixed sticky-scroller jank caused by ResizeObserver feedback loop with class toggles

Very good theme with lots of features that help our online Travel eSIM business. My only criticism is that the theme does not include an inbuilt pop up for email captcha.

Bastion functionality is not great. Drop down menu variations are not responsive and support is slow, sloppy, lazy, frankly they don't care, they just take your money. They are a Turkish Company (Fuel Themes). The responses they give in support tickets are simple one sentence answers that do not help or explain anything.

I've been using the Pinnacle theme for a while now and I'm very happy with it. It's very easy to use, has many options, and is also fast. Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to create their own beautiful website. The service is also excellent!
